Our People

We work with associates from a range of professional disciplines who are experts in their particular field and this includes project managers, change and transformation directors, risk specialists, finance gurus, operations specialists, lawyers and platform providers who help us build engaging tools. Our experience has taken us from team leadership on the front line up to Board C-Suite Executives.

Mandy Homer Managing Director of Operite Consulting

Mandy has provided consultancy services to her Financial Services clients in the City of London, Paris and Dublin for more than 10 years.  With a natural ability for project, risk and change management, as well as being a talented collaborator, Mandy has been integral to the success of the commercial and regulatory transformation programmes she has been part of.  More recently she spent two years working with a subsidiary of the Financial Conduct Authority, on their Risk Framework and Programme Management tools and processes.

In her earlier career Mandy consulted with Board level Executives on their business needs for platform-based products such as Sage Accounting. This was the beginning of her consulting experience – almost twenty years ago,  Experience grounded in learning to really understand an organisation’s unique qualities, helping them realise benefits and deliver their strategic needs, often using workshops, training, mentoring and coaching to facilitate change.

Drawing on a wealth of experience from insurance, retail banking and regulation, Mandy has a vision to share her skills using simple steps that she has learnt, about organising, managing and protecting an organisation, and making these accessible to all types of business or organisation across all industries, no matter their size, type or budget. She has a particular interest in public sector, local and central government.

Mandy is committed to adding value and making a difference for her clients, including developing engaging tools and products for day to day staff (the foot soldiers) to use in decision-making, to help them see what they need to do every day and who they need to tell, when things get tough. This keeping things simple approach has often led to referral and she regularly works with the same clients again and again.

Richard Smith – Associate

Richard owns Winning Ideas Ltd and is someone who constantly looks to the future and often sets a course that others want to follow.  I guess this would make him a thought leader in his field, which is enterprise risk management.   He has bags of experience with Corporate Governance too, regularly being called upon for his subject matter expertise.  He is especially interested in social and environmental risks, being a First Class Science graduate from Bristol University in the early days.  Richard majored in geographical / environmental sciences and climate change modelling, before training at PwC and taking up a City career in business risk management.

He has 30+ years experience in Financial Services, with more than 25 years of that being focused on risk management. For the past 20 years Richard has been an independent risk management consultant and has developed a sharp insight into the ethical, commercial and regulatory environments in which organisations set strategy, take risks and do business.  His consulting experience spans major financial institutions – insurers, banks, building societies and Recognised Investment Exchanges.

Expanding beyond Financial Services, Richard has now transferred his ideas, experience and knowledge to healthcare providers, FTSE250 companies, entrepreneurs, limited liability partnerships, not-for-profit organisations and a major UK regulator.  He advises clients across the UK and has worked extensively across Europe, North America and further afield.

Richard is an educator and influencer of risk management practices providing practical solutions and innovative products for risk management that makes risk relevant and engaging.  He shares the Operite vision of translating the basic steps of risk management, so that they become  accessible to all.
